Interchange++
This pricing applies when you are provided Adyen as PSP, for ecommerce only. For in-person, your pricing depends on your transaction volume. The fees in the Interchange++ model essentially consist of three main components:

Interchange fee (interbank charge)
This is the fee the cardholder’s bank pays the acquirer for processing the payment. The acquirer includes this fee in its payment processing fees and passes these costs on to the businesses that use its services. The amount of the interchange fee depends on various factors, such as the card issuer’s country and the type of card used.

However, according to EU Regulation (Regulation ( EU) 2015/751 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2015 on interchange fees for card-based payment transactions (Text with EEA relevance )), the amount of the fee is limited for cards issued in the EU:

For transactions with Visa or Mastercard consumer cards, where both the card and the point of sale are located in the EEA, the interchange fee is capped at 0.3% of the transaction value for credit cards and 0.2% for debit cards, according to the regulation. (This regulation does not apply to corporate cards.)

Card scheme fee (first +)
Card networks (such as Visa and Mastercard) charge the acquiring bank a fee for using their systems and networks. The amount of the fee depends on various factors, such as the type of card, authorization fees, and fraud prevention measures. These fees are set by the card networks and are sometimes published (VISA, Mastercard).

Acquirer fee (second +)
This is the fee plus the acquirer’s markup to the merchant. This fee covers the actual costs of payment processing and includes a margin for the acquirer.

Differences to the blended pricing model

All card processing costs are aggregated into an average rate. Instead of listing the fees separately and thus benefiting from a lower acquirer fee, a single percentage is applied to the transaction value. This percentage includes interchange fees, card network fees, and the acquirer fee. A detailed breakdown of the individual cost components is not provided.

The blended model is used for the following payment methods: Klarna Pay Now, TWINT.

The different calculation and presentation of the costs for processing card payments can be seen in this diagram:

IC-plusplus-vs-Blended_swisspayout

¹ When using these payment methods, interchange and scheme fees are already included (blended model).

² The conditions listed here correspond to the so-called acquirer fee in the Interchange++ model. In addition, further interchange and scheme fees are incurred in accordance with the conditions of the respective banks or system operators, over which swisspayout has no influence, but which are transparently itemized in the statement and billed jointly in the Interchange++ model.

* These rates are for Inter/domestic & Intra trasactions. Domestic transaction, i.e. transaction with a card issued in the country in which the transaction takes place (face-to-face transaction) or in which the merchants place of business is located (distance selling). Intra, Transaction that takes place with a Visa card issued in the Visa Europe region in a country of the Visa Europe region or with a Mastercard or Maestro card issued in the Mastercard Europe region in a country of the Mastercard Europe region. Inter, Transactions with a card issued outside the country in which the transaction takes place, i.e., businesses taking payments from non-EU cards. For Inter transactions, 2.9% + 0.30CHF applies.

Connect SwissPayout with dozens of external payment providers and combine different providers and payment methods. The fee per transaction is made up of your plan-dependent SwissPayout fee and the fee of the external payment provider.
